Yuya Sakurai is a Japanese philosopher, poet and tanka poet. He writes poems and tanka based on his experiences of dozens of visiting Vietnam. He is working with HMCC (Hue Monuments Conservation Centre) in Hue, Vietnam to restore and preserve the traditional wooden buildings of Hue, a World Heritage Site. He is the recipient of the 2018 Mirai Tanka Society's Critique Essay Award.
