Forensic Temporality

I’ll start with a comment on the title, to which I think I would add another term: Simulation, Exercise, Operations, Forensics. Because I think that what we are encountering now, with an increasingly algorithmic culture, and especially within the space of the algorithms themselves, is a certain attack on the order of time itself, or on the idea that there is a privileged order of time, the sequence of actions: simulation, enactment, the analysis of those operations, and their forensic analysis are governed by the same algorithms. So, I think that within this continuity of the concept of simulation we must include reconstruction, the recreation-backwards of the event from the trash and the rubble that it leaves behind—and that this is also a part of the larger concept of calculability…
